Beyond the Bean

The roots of Uwitije Coffee and the communities that make our export-grade specialty lots possible.

A Vision for Rwandan Excellence.

Uwitije Coffee was born from a singular vision held by our founder, Bernard Uwitije. Through the establishment of Trapro Coffee Washing Stations Ltd, the goal was never just to process coffee, but to elevate the entire standard of Rwandan specialty exports. By investing heavily in modern infrastructure and building deep, trusting relationships with local agronomy networks, Bernard created a central hub where traditional farming meets world-class processing.

Cultivated in the Shadow of Nyungwe.

Our operations are strategically located in the Southern Province, drawing from the rich, volcanic soils bordering the ancient Nyungwe Mountains. This high-altitude terroir provides the ideal microclimate for slow cherry maturation, resulting in the complex acidity and profound sweetness our coffee is known for. It is a landscape that demands hard work, but rewards us with some of the finest cup profiles on the continent.

Building a legacy of quality, from our foundation to the global stage.

Our Journey So Far.

Success Shared is Quality Guaranteed.

We do not own farms; we partner with the people who have cultivated this land for generations. Our washing stations serve as economic engines for thousands of local farmers. By providing transparent pricing, paying fair premiums for top-tier cherries, and offering ongoing agricultural support, we ensure that our pursuit of global coffee excellence directly improves the livelihoods of our community at home.
